Dr. Murray Gillies
Dr. Murray Gillies grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Sussex, New Brunswick. He graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2011 and has worked in various roles including a dairy intensive practice in New Zealand, for the Government of New Brunswick’s field veterinary service and as a technical services veterinarian for Vetoquinol Animal Health. Dr. Murray is a past president of the Canadian Association of Bovine Veterinarians (CABV) and the current District 12 director for the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP). He is pursuing a master’s degree in animal health management at the Atlantic Veterinary college and loves discussing dairy practice, bovine veterinary medicine, and science in general.

Dr. M. Anderson
Dr. Anderson is a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and is ACVIM board-certified in large animal internal medicine. She is currently Lead Veterinarian – Animal Health and Welfare at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness, where she continues to work in areas bridging animal and public health, including rabies and antimicrobial stewardship, and co-leads the companion animal Ontario Animal Health Network (OAHN).

Improving Surveillance and Response to Zoonotic and other Threats
Dr. Z. Poljak
Dr. Poljak is an associate profess at the University of Guelph, OVC, Department of Population Medicine. He specializes in epidemiology and animal health, with a focus on infectious disease surveillance, emerging pathogens, and the use of data science in veterinary and public health. He studies influenza A viruses and other important pathogens like PRRSV and those linked to antimicrobial resistance – always with an eye toward practical application in the field and the goal of making complex data actionable. A major part of his work involves building interactive disease surveillance dashboards to support real-time decision-making across sectors.
